Windy City MOG is organizing our first multi-day touring event. From Thursday, July 7th through Sunday, July 10th, 2005, we will be driving around Lake Michigan. Here is the planned schedule:
Leave from North Shore Import Sportscars around 9:00 am.
Overnight in Escanaba, MI, about 280 miles.
Visit the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point.
Overnight in Mackinaw City, MI, about 240 miles.
||Overnight in the Grand Haven/Holland area, MI, about 250 miles|
Attend Mad Dogs and Englishmen, the Western MI British Car Club event at the Gilmore Car Museum north of Kalamazoo, MI.
Leave around 4:00 pm for home (about 230 miles back to the start.)
This will be a wonderful trip. We’ll be taking local roads through national and state forests most of the way, with a maximum of five hours driving each day and frequent stops to stretch our legs and enjoy the sights. The Shipwreck Museum is a fascinating visit and we'll also be driving across the spectacular Straits of Mackinac Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in the world.
Because this is mid summer, we need to make hotel or B&B reservations as early as possible, to ensure that we’re together and staying in nice accommodations. We already have six couples who are planning on coming. The more the merrier; tin tops welcome but Morgans encouraged. (We will have a couple of mechanics and a supply of spares if you’re worried about your car making the distance.)
If anyone is interested in joining us, or meeting along the way, please call or email Dan as soon as possible.
